Jon Fiala @CCLSFIALA 2h2 hours ago More8th grade boys working on their expressive self portraits! A favorite of theirs! @CCLSChargers #arted #arteducation #middleschoolart This was a post made by Jon Fiala on Twitter where his 8th grade students made expressive self portraits. This is a great idea because what he did was have the students print out images of their face with a certain filter on their face that gave the students blocks of values that assisted them in their project. I would love to use this in my class because the students can work on the computer to edit their photo then print it out so it can help them in the end with their hands on work. Jennifer Williams had a great tool that she used in her classroom called Participate. I think that I will use this in my class room to help gets students to think and act on social good and how that can inspire them to create certain art on helping. "I challenged myself to write 20 positive notes to send home to kids over Fall Break. Before Christmas I will do 20 more. I want my students to know I see their hard work and thoughtfulness, and I don’t always do the best job at recognizing them." I thought this is a great way to spread positivity in the classroom. It's important to make sure your students know that you care about them. The Dictation feature converts your spoken words into text.
This tool would be awesome to use in the classroom in cases where a student was blind, or had difficulty using their fingers to type. Link: http://playfic.com/
Description of tool: Playfic is a platform for writing and playing interactive fiction. Interactive fiction/ text adventures is a genre of game that uses no graphics or sound, but instead, uses text to tell a story in an interactive world. How I would use the tool in my classroom: I would use the tool for the students to create an online questionnaire game. The students would come up with a famous artist and then they would create questions that would give the other students hints in order to figure out who their artist was. This is a great way for students to interact with each other as well as using technology to learn about different artists. TPACK Link: tpack.org/
TPACK Description: TPACK incorporates technology, pedagogy, and content in education. TPACK stands for Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge. It is a theory that was made to explain the set of knowledge that teachers need to teach their students a subject, teach effectively, and use technology. It helps teachers when technology is changing all the time. Link: https://www.hallowedground.org/Photos-Videos
Description of the online tool: This online tool is called, "The Journey Through Hallowed Ground Partnership". It is a non-profit, four-state partnership dedicated to raising awareness of American heritage. It is a partnership with the National Park Service that encourages students to connect what they learned about history with others. The students do this by sharing videos and photos. Description of how you think you would use in the classroom including what standard it would support?: Standards 1 3 and 4 are supported here because of how this tool provides resources for students including educational videos and photos that were taken of other students during activities. How I would use it in my classroom would be to have my students use one of the photos that was provided by on the website that they found interesting and draw from it. This connects art to other students around the world and history. Not only will I be teaching them to draw, but also with how to connect with others that have learned about history. Some of the websites wanted me to pay for the lesson plan and included multiple 'arts' such as drama class. I then changed my google search to be more specific and said "free drawing art lesson plans". After, I searched through various sites until I found one that looked good. Digital Citizenship: I thought hard to incorporate technology even further in this project. I would first have the students research a contemporary artist that they resonate to and create a piece that reminds them of the artist with out copying them. This teaching the students to use reliable sources as well as fair use and copying. After that, I decided to have the students share their art on twitter. For starters, this gets them posting their artwork online and two, sharing with others. After they had shared their post, I would require them to comment on two other classmates posts saying what was one thing they loved and one thing they could do to enhance it. This gets the students practicing safe dialogue on social media and looking at others artwork. It's one thing to just create your own work and it's another to look at others. This helps the students to see their classmates work and start to marinate other ideas on what they could have done or ideas for the next project. |
